Burns Suppers are held around the globe to celebrate the life and work of the Scottish poet, Robert Burns. These events are typically held in January, and consist in speeches, toasts to the Laddies and the Lassies, reading of Burns's poetry, the Address to a Haggis, and of course, much music, dancing and food.Burns.

The Chicago Scots have been holding its annual Burns Supper at various locations in and around Chicago. They are one of the spotlight events the Society holds every year, and it continually attracts a good crowd looking to celebrate the life of Robert Burns, to mingle with Society members, and to have a good time in the traditional Scottish fashion.

The Illinois Saint Andrew Society's Annual Anniversary Dinner commemorates the 'Feast of Saint Andrews, Scotland's patron saint. We hope you will be able to join us for an exciting program beginning with a cocktail reception and silent auction at 6:00 p.m. Dinner will be served in the Empire Room at 7:00 p.m., followed by entertainment and a live auction.

Rachel's Bio

It's easy to be intimidated by the sheer immensity of Rachel Barton Pine's accomplishments. The young Chicago based violinist has performed on stages all over the world in front of hundreds of thousands of people, released 13 albums, won countless prestigious awards, and played with musicians ranging from Placido Domingo to Jimmy Page. Yet throughout her career, Rachel has worked to demystify classical music and bring it to audiences for whom it has not been easily accessible. Groups as various as inner city children, sports fans, music students in developing countries, and even her fellow rock fans have been enriched by Rachel's devotion to music and the infectious enthusiasm with which she shares it. She's more than a musician - she's perhaps the greatest young ambassador that classical music has today. For more information about Rachel, please visit http://rock.rachelbartonpine.com/.
