The Scottish Law Society of Illinois is an organization comprised of attorneys of Scottish ancestry. The Law Society is one of a variety of unique programs offered by the Illinois Saint Andrew Society.
Mission:
- To foster collegiality among Scots and Scots-American attorneys of the metropolitan Chicago area;
- To provide assistance to member attorneys seeking to engage in transactions including Scots and Scottish business in the United States and to Americans and American businesses seeking to engage in transactions in Scotland;
- To nurture the historic Scottish support of the continued growth of Chicago and its environs;
- To nurture the competent, ethical and professional practice of law in support of the constitutional freedoms, equality and dignity of each individual, consistent with the common principles of Scottish and American jurisprudence;
- To enhance, refine, improve and further the Scot and Scot-American community in all aspects of the legal system, and;
- To support the charitable causes of The Illinois Saint Andrew Society and especially The Scottish Home.
Membership benefits include:
- Quarterly meetings featuring lectures on a wide variety of Scottish law related topics.
- Advance notification of events and linkage to other special interest groups.
- Volunteer opportunities at society event such as the well-known Highland Games in Oak Brook, Illinois.
- A membership directory
Membership Dues:
- Regular Membership - $100.00 per person annually
- Chief Justice John Marshall Club - $250.00 per person annually
Please join us at one of our quarterly meetings. Membership will be notified of dates, times and locations. Non-member guests are welcome; a donation of $20.00 per guest per meeting is requested.
